Like other previous guests, this was a big splurge, a once-in-a-lifetime trip for our family. We're a three-generation group of eight (ages 8 to 69) and Kaulana Naue was exactly as described and more. The wonderful hosts, Leila and Mike, were readily available and accommodating. They even lent us wetsuits in multiple sizes for our grandkids when I mentioned that the kids got a bit chilled when snorkeling at Tunnels. The home was perfect for us with every bedroom having their own bathroom. The kitchen was big enough for multiple cooks and had all the equipment we needed. The well-maintained spa was used multiple times a day. We even had a fun ping-pong tournament one day when taking a break from beach activities! Twenty years ago we stayed directly on Tunnels and were hoping to do the same for this trip. BUT... this location was actually better because we had small waves for boogie boarding AND amazing tide pools right out front where we saw crabs, an eel, a live conch, sea cucumbers, AND a baby octopus! Watching the net fishermen in the morning was so interesting and when the wind kicked up in the afternoons, we were amazed by the various kite surfers. It was paradise with rainbows, sunrises and sunsets and we made family memories that will last forever. As my 8-year-old grandson said, “It was awesome and I want to go back!

Kaulana Naue was perfect for my family. We like a place for outdoor activity, away from crowds and honky tonk. We had a wonderful week of togetherness. The children had fun all day every day without computer games, TV (it was available),or the usual distractions. The scenery was the best of our many trips to Hawaii, the ocean, in spite of a storm at sea, was fun any time of day, surfing lessons led to several days of excitement even for the 6 year olds. One of my requirements is a large dining table and we enjoyed having dinner together every night except the one adult night out. Leila’s daughters baby sat! We played Tripoly around that table and sat around with our morning coffee enjoying our time together. We all played ball in the yard and took turns in the hammock. The house had lovely bedrooms and baths and the kitchen lacked nothing except a coffee mill which only was noticed because I bought whole bean coffee ( the blender worked fine.) The only thing really needed is one or more hair dryers. The one we found in the master bath did not work. Leila went out and bought beach chairs and an umbrella for us when she found them missing. The boogie boards at the house were a great hit and the abundance of towels were much appreciated with 10 of us in and out of the ocean. Thank you for a special vacation we will all long remember.

This house is amazing! Multigenerational family vacation with 9 adults. Every room is like a master suite. The common areas are perfect for a large group, with excellent media/surround sound in the living room, huge dining table overlooking the ocean, and a large deck with hot tub to watch the surf for turtles. We walked out every morning to watch sunrise and took a sunset stroll to Tunnels beach where we found a monk seal sleeping in the beach in the sun. Snorkeling right outside the gate and close to Hanalei for some walking, shopping and eating. Leila the property manager is awesome and so helpful. We can’t wait to go back!

My wife picked out this home as her birthday destination. Although it was more than I had ever spent on a VRBO home, the pictures and her excitement pushed it forward. Then I began to email and talked to Leila, and that sealed the deal. Her voice and entire demeanor on the phone and emails were totally welcoming. When we arrived, the home exceeded our expectations and Leila's availability was always there via phone or text. We loved the whole vibe of this incredibly beautiful home in a perfect location. This home, location and the hosts totally exceeded our expectations. The home was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for our family of 10. The location was perfect - reasonably close to town for restaurants, souvenirs and groceries, but also quiet with plenty of privacy and breathtaking views. The host, Leila, was very attentive and made sure we were completely satisfied. I honestly can't imagine the trip going any better. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Our family of ten- six adults and four children- had a wonderful time on our Kauai Thanksgiving vacation. Leila made sure all the cooking equipment I'd need to make a Thanksgiving dinner was in the kitchen ready to go. The home was wonderfully equiped from the kitchen to sand toys and games. The ocean view and the sound of the waves at night were magnificient. I can't say enough about Leila's organization and hospitality. If you are someone who loves studying Hawaiian plantation architecture, the ceilings will keep you entertained for hours. Simply a beautifully kept home that allows privacy spaces and community spaces- the perfect combination for a family vacation!

We arrived at night and walked into the house and loved the architecture, the layout, the furnishings-just everything, but it wasn't until the morning that we grasped the beauty of this property. I walked out of my room and turned right and was looking at this breathtaking view all across the back of the house. I am not kidding it was stunning. I watched as each person woke up and walked down the hall toward the front of the house to wake up to this view! No one could speak-just look. It really is something! The pictures do not do it justice. it really made it hard to leave and take in all that Kauai has to offer! We cooked a few meals here and there was absolutely EVERYTHING we needed in the kitchen. Eating on the deck was a treat for my 60th birthday-again the views of sunset (and sunrise) are gorgeous! We also found beach chairs and even toys for our grandson to enjoy...
